Heart and Blood

The heart is located in the abdomen. The heart of adult bird spiders will beat in a state of rest between 20 and 30 beats per minute, but when the spider is upset the heartbeat can go up to 200 beats per minute. The vascular system of the bird spider consists of blood and lymphatic vessels. The almost colourless blood is called Hemolymphe and contains a cupric protein called Hemocyanin.
